BIA generates $380K through sale of horses on Crow Reservation

The
Bureau of Indian Affairs took in $380,365 from the sale of 804 horses on the
Crow Reservation in Montana.
The BIA rounded up the animals from Jim Leachman, a non-Indian rancher who has been charged with animal cruelty.
Revenues from the sale will be used to cover the agency's costs and, potentially, to pay off Leachman's debts.
“We don’t know if there is money left over yet. If so, he has creditors who have liens,” Superintendent Vianna Stewart told The Billings Gazette.
The BIA's costs include $45,000 paid to the Crow Tribe for the roundup.
